چکیده

ogy as with DSPE–PEG 2000. Since the concentrations of PEG 5000 containing proteins could also be measured by Skoog’s method (13), we believe that this modified method would also work. In conclusion, a simple and direct colorimetric method, modified from Skoog’s PEG measurement method (13), for determining the amount of DSPE– PEG 2000 in buffer solutions containing blood or albumin was reported. The concentrations of DSPE–PEG 2000 in those solutions could be determined at 435 nm as low as 25 mg/ml with simple sample preparations. It may facilitate the application of PEG–liposomes in drug delivery or blood substitutes.

insecticide-resistant mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus

Resistance to organophosphates in Culex mosquitoes is typically associated with increased activity of non-specific esterases. The commonest phenotype involves two elevated esterases, A2 and B2, while some strains have elevation of esterase B1 alone. Overexpression of the two B esterase electromorphs is due to gene amplification. Full-length cDNAs coding for amplified esterase B genes from a res...

Quantitative analysis of gene amplification in insecticide-resistant Culex mosquitoes.

The amplification of carboxylesterase structural genes followed by their overexpression is the most common mechanism of resistance to organophosphorus insecticides in Culex mosquitoes. Most resistant Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes have co-amplified estalpha2(1) and estbeta2(1) genes. Recently, Southern, DNA dot-blot analysis and phosphorimaging technology were used to quantify the est gene c...

Chromosomal Localization of Amplified Esterase Genes in Insecticide Resistant Culex Mosquitoes

The esterase B gene is amplified 32-fold in an organophosphorus insecticide resistant strain, Shinjuku, of Culex pipiens molestus. The amplified gene was revealed to cluster in single extended chromosomal region (ECR) of chromosome 2 by fluorescence in situ hybridization on salivary gland chromosomes. The ECR appeared to be homogeneously non-staining with DAPI, orcein or Giemsa stains. In the F...

Detection of tetracycline resistance genes in bacteria isolated from fish farms using polymerase chain reaction

Five common tetracycline resistance genes tet(A), tet(B), tet(M), tet(O) and tet(S) were studied by polymerase chain reaction in 100 bacteria isolated from Iranian fish farms. In the antibiogram test most of the bacteria were either intermediately or completely resistant to tetracycline. Nine isolates out of 46 Aeromonas spp. contained eithe...

Relationship between amount of esterase and gene copy number in insecticide-resistant Myzus persicae (Sulzer).

Overproduction of the insecticide-degrading esterases, E4 and FE4, in peach-potato aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), depends on both gene amplification and transcriptional control, the latter being associated with changes in DNA methylation. The structure and function of the aphid esterase genes have been studied but the determination of their copy number has proved difficult, a common problem w...
